Do we move to Chesham? Any info welcome plus

Help please. Long story short. I have children already attending high school in Rickmansworth and a little one that will start primary school in 2021. Looking at Chesham, I could tube it to Rickmansworth to drop them off then commute into London. What is it like living there? I am not a snob by any means but having come from a 'rougher' background, I would prefer for my children to be bought up in a more affluent area for many reasons. I have heard not so good things about it. Pros and cons please if anyone knows. O would sincerely appreciate it before I put an offer on a house. Thank you 😊

Like anywhere it has nice bits and less nice ones, so would depend on where you are looking. Amersham is generally thought of as nice (and has a better train service) The town itself is probably not hugely different to Rickmansworth in terms of busyness if you are looking for something more rural.

Some of the surrounding villages are lovely. I’d look at school catchments though, and remember that Bucks is a grammar area at secondary.

I don't like in Rickmansworth. I used to hence why the children go to school there. I love the town but it is quite pricey.

Chesham is fine and much more affordable than Rickmansworth. It’s got a Waitrose, a decent book shop and some independent coffee shops etc. It’s also quite compact and surrounded by gorgeous countryside. There’s a decent range of housing within walking distance of the station, including Victorian terraces, new-ish builds and 1930s houses and a lovely park. I have lived there and commuted into London for 10 years plus. You can usually get a seat on the train, even in rush hour.
