Hi All,
We are thinking of leaving London for Dorset.
I'm petrified of getting it wrong for my children (2 and 12 weeks) and also going crazy with loneliness and boredom! Can anyone let me know about family life: Bridport, Lyme Regis, Poundbury etc? Lots to do? Or even suggest where is great? We are still really open to suggestions. Thank you in advance! x

Hi I moved from Bucks to a village near Lyme Regis 5 years ago and love it here. Loads to do if you are outdoorsy. Made lots of new friends. But it depends on your lifestyle really..might be safer to start with a larger town eg Dorchester if you are unsure of rural living? Public transport is generally poor around here you need to drive really and not as many jobs in the rural areas (minimum wage for most office jobs!) I am single and childfree so cannot comment on family life. feel free to PM me if you need any more info on the area.

Have you got a job lined up? That might determine the best bit to live in

did you make a decision?

I've lived in Dorset all my life .Dorset is a very varied county .Lyme Regis is lovely ,very crowded in spring /summer .We live near Poole so we have fabulous beaches and countryside on our doorstep . Dorchester has had a fair amount on upgrading .I personally wouldn't go to Poundbury ..stepford wives springs to mind !!

@LuBear did you decide on a location? We are planning the same move and wondered how it went/your experience?
Thanks
