Hi we've been looking at Boston as a new area to live moving from London with 2 children 10-13 houses are a lot cheaper here but can someone tell me is this a nice area or should we avoid as reading up on it hasn't helped but all threads are 10+ years old and obviously areas can change any feed back is much appreciated Smile

Bad. Drugs and fighting.

Bad! Highest murder rate per capita in the UK! Or one of. Plenty of better places in lincs to move to!

Grim I’m afraid. What made you pick Boston? There will be other cheap areas in the U.K. that are less bleak.
If you give a few key criteria, I’m sure people will chip in with suggestions.

If I were you I'd look at some of the smaller towns outside Boston. Lincolnshire is a great place, but Boston itself is a large port town with a few of the inevitable problems it brings. Horncastle and Woodhall Spa are really good communities. Spalding is worth a look too. Schools in all these towns are really good

Yes, Boston known for gangs and violence. I would encourage you to look elsewhere in Lincolnshire...

Woodhall spa is gorgeous. Boston is a "ghetto" area with a high right-wing bias.

This is my neck of the woods. Avoid Boston like the plague. Spalding is awful too.
I'm recommend Stamford if you can afford. If not, then Bourne. Stanford's my home town but I now live in Bourne. x

From someone who has done this.

We moved from Maidstone Kent to Boston 3 years ago with 2 kids currently 13 and 7, I worked in South London (Peckham for over 25 years and to be honest Boston is no worse than any other town or London.

We live in a lovely little village a few miles from the town centre and never had any trouble. We love the rural location, lack of traffic,And of course the property prices.

The kids are doing much better in schools than there where in Kent due to smaller class sizes.

We love it up here and would never consider coming back.

As for murder capital of Britain, when ever there is trouble it's the Eastern European's vs the Eastern European's,

I happily walk through Boston town centre early hours of the morning, Dammed if I would do the same in south London.
