Moving to Aberdeenshire - possibly - need advice

An opportunity has come up with my work to move to Aberdeenshire. I have three young children, all below school age. I currently live in the middle of nowhere and have to travel up to an hour to take the kids places. I am now looking to move somewhere near a city (about half an hour away) but still in the countryside but with lots of places to take kids (beaches, skiing, climbing, trampolining, castles, museums, farms etc). I am looking at Banchory. I'd like the benefits of the countryside but with everything close by - supermarket, nice pub, gym, swimming pool. I'm not from the area and have only visited once briefly. Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this area - I've heard positive things - but do people feel this is a good place to live and bring up young children? I worry that Aberdeen is quite far away and could be very cold! Where I live is very rainy and grey all winter - I've heard that Aberdeen can be quite sunny though! Also, my partner is a tree surgeon - I'm know this is a bit niche but someone on here may know if it would be easy enough for him to find work. Any help/advice really appreciated. I'm hoping to pop up for a weekend before making a firm decision. Thanks!

Banchory is lovely. Close enough to Aberdeen to get there, but far enough away to not be a suburb. I have family there and they love it.
