Truro Cornwall rural relocation help needed

Hi,
I'm a newbie and looking for tips and personal experiences of the Truro area schools.
I am a mum of one daughter and will be returning to the UK from overseas next year for my daughter to start Secondary school. We have friends in North Cornwall around St. Agnes and have always dreamed of settling there.
My daughter is shy and reserved and will be coming from a small private primary school in Australia. For this reason I am considering either Truro High Scool or Truro School. It would be really helpful if you can offer advise on these schools from recent experiences. It's hard to get proper feeling from the website and emails without being able to visit them.
Also any thoughts on areas to live? We would rent initially and would be happy rural but if I have to drive her to school then would like to keep that to a max 20 minute drive from Truro!
It's a big move for us and I appreciate your helpful comments in advance!

Bumping for you.

I'm in Cornwall but not in Truro so afraid I can't help. Good luck with your plans 🙂

You could try and post it on the mumsnet local page for that area as well maybe, to get more replies?

Thanks TheTeaFairy that's very kind of you, hopefully someone will reply! Where are you living in Cornwall?
NeonFlower, thanks so much for the tip - I'm still finding my way around this site! I've posted on the Cornwall board, hopefully I'll get some responses!

I went to Truro High; my brother went to Truro School; my sister went to both. Truro High is much smaller and may feel friendlier. THS has a reputation for languages; Truro School for sciences... However, girls at THS regularly go on to study medicine, engineering and veterinary science, so science education there is good. THS is CofE; Truro School is Methodist. Either school is good.

Hi cornishmumofone!
Thank you so much for your comments it's really helpful.
Would you mind me asking which school your sister switched to last and what was the reason she switched schools? Which one did she prefer? Did you all enjoy your school experience? When were you all at the schools?
How do you feel about the religious emphasis at both schools was it strong and compulsary?
We are looking for accommodation also and would like semi rural. Do you have any thoughts about areas that are not too far to drive to school or on a school bus route?
Thanks again for your time I really appreciate it!

My siblings and I were there between the late 1980s and the mid 2000s, so quite a while ago.

My sister moved from THS to Truro School because she wanted to mix with boys, was keen on science and wanted to take a subject that wasn't available at THS. She liked both schools.

There were regular assemblies at both schools and events at the Cathedral/chapel/Mary Clement Church. There were additional (non compulsory) services in the boarding house for Ash Wednesday etc.

I travelled to school by train from Hayle. My brother used the school bus for his last years. There are buses that go from Truro to Penzance (via Redruth, Camborne, Hayle and St Erth). There are also buses that go towards Par/Lostwithiel/Bodmin; the other buses go to Falmouth.

St Erme, Kea and Ponsanooth are all nice areas that aren't too far from Truro... but it depends on what amenities you are looking for.

Im looking to relocate with my 10 year old daughter to Cornwall this Summer. Have been thinking Truro way but need to have a contact with school knowledge for Primary Y6 and the Secondary schools. My daughter loves horses and the water so hoping this can be part of the relocation. Any comments most appreciated about schools, locations etc. thank you
