Is Sevenoaks a good place to live?

Hi everyone!
I'm currently working and renting in Bromley. I'm ready to buy a house but I can't afford anything nice in Bromley. I was told Sevenoaks is a nice place to live with good schools. Can anyone let me know any good and bad areas in Sevenoaks and let me know if is it a nice place for a family to live?

Thank you Smile

Well, we live here and I like it! If you want to buy a house, it's very expensive! I'm thinking worse than Bromley as well but I may be wrong. Renting not cheap either. It all depends on what else you want from the place where you live. It sounds like you have children? but there aren't as many recreation grounds/parks as say Tunbridge Wells. If your family is young you may prefer going a little further south. As a place it's nothing like Bromley, either!

Thanks for the reply. I have a 2 year old son who is at a brilliant nursery here in Bromley currently. I also work in Bromley 3 days a week and don't drive so Tunbridge wells is a bit of a trek for me sadly (it looks beautiful and affordable though!)

Ive seen some affordable houses around Dunston village and bat and ball so not sure if those areas are nice to be in? Central Sevenoaks is also a bit too pricey for me unfortunately.

I could get a masonette with a garden here in Bromley but I really have my heart set on a house.

If you have a good nursery in Bromley I'd definitely stay there for the time being, no question. Did you mean Dunton Green? I think it's ok but don't know it that well tbh. Worth a look though for sure! Bat and Ball is convenient for Sainsbury's but I don't like it so much. The really good primary school nearby is Amherst but that tends to be oversubscribed and houses round about reflect this. Most things are pricey around here. Seal is nice. Have a look there.

I had to go out of Sevenoaks today and drove thru' Dunton Green. It seems good to me and I think I'd prefer it to Bromley (if that helps!). Tesco is just down the road but you'd probably be reliant on buses if you can't drive. There are some local shops and an Indian (I did go in once about 10 years ago and it was good then) so I think you'd like it as a place to be. I came through the Amherst area on the way back (Chipstead/Riverhead) and I think you'd find these really pricey... but they are lovely! If you think T Wells is affordable, I think you'd find it a better place with young children... if you can bear the trek!
