Where to think about going ....

So .... I'm beyond fed up with where we live (27 miles west of Glasgow) both the weather and lack of things to do with my 1.5 year old depress me.

My OH works offshore so needs to travel to Aberdeen every 3 weeks.

I'm seriously considering moving "down south"

I understand this is quite an open question but where would you guys recommend for decent weather, good for kids and 3 bedroom house for 160000 approx?

France would get you the decent weather and the 3 bed house, but not necessarily the things to do with your 1.5 year old.

Bristol but you wouldn't get a house for that.

Even the north of England has better weather than here!!

We live in the north west, you will get a house for that in Preston/Wigan areas and have easy access to Lake District, Blackpool, southport etc which will be a lovely day out for the kids. As for the weather, well it's not going to be much better than where you are but it's beautiful today. North Wales might be worth considering but again, you're not going to get glorious weather there, but it is beautiful when the sun's out

How about Gloucestershire, Hereford or Worcestershire? House prices are relatively cheap in rural areas. You would have access to some good cities and Birmingham airport for flights to Aberdeen.

Shropshire is lovely, rural and also Staffordshire may also offer reasonable houses in your price bracket. On the other side of the country is Lincolnshire which is very good value for money and you would get a lovely property for your price range.

People I know who live north east England seem to get better weather so it might be an idea for me to steer away from north west if it's similar to here

Try SW Scotland, get the Gulf Stream, so warmish. A bit of a slog to Aberdeen, but doable.

North wales is better weather wise than where you are now, although there is still lots of rain! but I would seriously look around Nairn, Elgin and findhorn areas there good access to Aberdeen (in Scottish terms) and the moray firth has a microclimate which is warmer and dryer than most of Scotland. Also it is definitely sunnier in the east. Great communities as well.

My OH knows that area and I don't think would be agreeable. If we move I don't really want to stay in Scotland tbh

Well then might I recommend Cornwall, weather much better and you can fly from aberdeen to newquay

North east good place to live. Newcastle airport for DH trips to Aberdeen, lovely beaches plenty of things to do with dc. Only thing is weather not brilliant.

Look at airports, don't rely on trains!

Look at local weather and geography. Mountains and hills make microclimates.
