Single mum...better off in Liverpool, Edinburgh or London?

Hi!

It all looks like I will become a single mum in the next few months and I can't decide if I should stay in London in social housing or in a house share with my 14month old son

Or if I should move somewhere cheaper where I will be able to buy a flat in a few years time

I was thinking either the outskirts of Edingbourgh because I love Scotland or maybe Liverpool as I have heard that the people there are really friendly and every time I meet someone from there they really are! :)

What's the best place to grow up?

Thank you!

Stay in social housing, its secure.

Social housing in London?

You'd have to pry me out of there with a crow bar Grin

I'd never leave

Are Edinburgh and Liverpool rural?

nancy75 · 03/01/2016 15:11

Are you already in social housing g in London?

notmynameohno · 03/01/2016 15:15

Depends on if you have a good network of family and friends in London.

ginmakesitallok · 03/01/2016 15:19

Where would you live in Edinburgh or Liverpool? How would you get a house?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 03/01/2016 15:26

Edinburgh is great for families but very expensive.

MushroomMama · 03/01/2016 15:28

I live in Liverpool it's very cheap here! It's a friendly city and everyone is dead nice but if you have a secure social housing in London I'd hold on to it!

nancy75 · 03/01/2016 15:29

Depends if you already have a council house in London, advice will vary depending on that

Othername5 · 03/01/2016 18:27

Hi again! I don't have social housing yet...from what I've heard it's pretty unlikely :p

Hi! I was thinking rent a flat, wait till little one is in primary school, work full time, get mortgage...probably need 4-5 years...

If you dont have the social housing then probably Liverpool as its cheaper, but what is your criteria? Peole may be able to suggest somewhere more suitable. Do you have ties to anywhere else in the country?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 03/01/2016 18:32

Liverpool then. Nice, friendly and cheaper than Edinburgh or London.
