Moving to Devon

My husband is looking a possible job move to Devon. Neither of us are from that area so are at a bit of a lost at the the best areas to look for a house/schools etc. mostly like the job will be based in Plymouth. Can someone please advise on towns/villages within a 15 mile areas that are nice and have good school links. Thanks

I grew up in ivy bridge which has a well thought of secondary school and several primary. Fairly bland as a town but has everything a family needs and right on the edge of Dartmoor. Places like totnes are further away from Plymouth but have more of a hippy feel, Tavistock is nice I think but don't know anyone that lived there. My sister lives in saltash which is nice too.
