according to the daily mail

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2618805/Want-13-pay-rise-Become-FARMER-How-working-land-lucrative-happier-too.html#comments

apparently farming is lucrative.

The comments below are awful, are people really that far removed from the realities of modern farming?

All those people sneering wouldn't last 3 days doing our job. Pisses me right off.

Ha ha. Not at the price milks sold for.

I find it odd that supermarkets boast about how much they are screwing farmers.

I don't give a fuck if my bread or milk is a few pence cheaper actually I do because it is our livelihood

I want cheaper washing powder and wine, you know, the things that cost a lot any way. Not a few pence here and there on milk particularly when it is well publicised that its the farmer that takes the hit and not the supermarket.

The public need re-educating. Cheap meat every night isn't a right, its a unfortunate symptom of a society living beyond its means and the expense of all else.

I agree. I'd happily pay a few pence more for milk. Meat has never been as cheap as it is now in relation to wages. Its gone from being a once a week Sunday roast and then using the left overs in the week to people expecting meat most meals.

We had lentil curry at the weekend and a friend was teasing her husband that he might not survive as there was no meat on the menu.
