New manager ( very abrupt ) and my job role changed quite a lot - all about targets rather than the clients. I have just received state pension but wanted to do a few more years but the atmosphere not the same - think it’s time to go - so stressed may go to doctors to get signed off for last month - never had sick before.
i have put my resignation in - want to leave asap. Don’t need a reference as I don’t intend to work anywhere else ( unless voluntarily) - trying to focus on positive - just need someone to say retirement will be fine. I live alone and will find it different after so many years. I won’t be financially worse off.

Embrace retirement! It’s not just the end of your working life, it’s the start of a whole new adventure. I’m three years in, and loving every minute of it.

You decided to go for a reason. I left my job 4 years before accruing the full pension. I couldn't take any more. My pension is less than half of what I was earning- not even 1400 a month. I am doing agency work till something better comes along. I don't like having too much time on my hands, but life is more pleasant. You could have a rest and if u wanted social interaction do some charity work. You have choices. You have decided to put yourself first OP.

Good for you for choosing retirement. Who wants to be the most reliable worker in the graveyard?

I know several people who retired early and then found themselves a side hustle to fill the gap and provide some extra income.

Good for you.👍

I retired early at 57 and 3yrs on I can honestly say it was the best thing I ever did.
We all leave for a miriad of reasons but rarely do we look back and regret it.
I always intended working until 60 but when the chance came to leave 3yrs early I didn't exactly jump but commonsense soon kicked in and I pressed the button.

It's the right decision.
You can not put a price on health x

At your age, you don't need the stress.
You say you've done the sums and won't be financially worse off.
So, retirement will be fine. Especially if work is making you ill.

Been there, done it, never looked back.

God luck!
