I am a Headteacher retiring in August 2026 after what will be 40 years in education. I’m approaching 61 and ready to go - so much has changed over the years, especially in the last 20 and it’s not really as enjoyable as it once was!

anywho, I formally told the CoG and the Director of the Academy Trust that I will be retiring in August 2026 on Monday so that they have plenty of time to get a good replacement appointed.

My departure was announced to staff on Tuesday and the announcement will go out in the weekly newsletter tomorrow
The job advertisement went live today and it now feels somewhat real that I’m finally finished!

Countdown is on! I’m looking forward to the next chapter!

Congratulations on your 40 years at the coal face!! The rest of the year will fly by. Make sure you have something fun and fab planned for next September, something you've never had the chance to do before because it's always been back to school month!!!

Oh congratulations. I retired from teaching this year after 29 years. I'm loving being semi- retired.

You will soon find your 'retirement' feet.

My friend found a coffee shop on her old route to work & watched everyone else go to work while she relaxed, with her Husband who had also retired a few months previously. It doesn't have to be something huge, they went on a UK break a couple of weeks later
