Is Hebburn a nice place to live

We are 55 and have a teen adult son and two dogs. We are originally from the south but lived in Newcastle for 22 years.
We have to downsize and buy a two or three bed with a garden and wanted to know if Hebburn is a good place to live or Marsden south Shields? And would us being southerners be an issue in these areas ? We really need friendly and fairly quiet for early retirement. Thank you all so much.

Of the two id prefer Marsden as being coastal but you would find it more expensive I think

I think as with most areas there will be more quiet and affluent pockets in and around Hebburn but I personally wouldn't want to live there. I really like Roker and Seaburn or Cullercoats or Whitley Bay. Obviously it totally depends on your budget and what your priorities are i.e schools/transport links or restaurants, shops and community.
