hi, our only child is emigrating to Perth Western Australia, we have no other family members, we are 60 years of age, will it be possible to follow him,
he is moving with his Australian girlfriend whose parents and relatives all live in Perth
we understand he will have to be there 2 years before he can sponsor us
we have a house to sell in uk and also private pensions and some savings

You need a lot of money to retire to Australia and they are very strict, have a look at their website. You could try first with 3 month visiting to see if you like it.

I would rent your house here, go for a few months and see how you get on b fire making any final decisions

I believe you have to contribute a large sum to register with their health scheme. A colleague moved there a few years ago and had to pay before her move could go ahead.

My best friend and her husband did this recently as their son and his family lived there. They applied for an Aged Parent visa. You do need plenty of money to do it, though.
