Retired - how much money do you live on per year ?

Still working but thinking about retirement once DH hits 60.

I found this article in Which
www.which.co.uk/money/pensions-and-retirement/starting-to-plan-your-retirement/how-much-will-you-need-to-retire-atu0z9k0lw3p
and it suggests that households "couples enjoying a comfortable retirement" spend around £25,000 a year. For singles, around £19k a year.

Is anyone currently retired and able to comment on this ? Do these figures seem realistic to you ?

@RosesAndHellebores that's a good description of the fear of giving up work. I think that's what you mean? I feel the same. We're a long way from retirement but even so, I feel slightly scared of giving up work. DH is looking forward to it.

It's very hard to go from a saving and accumulating mindset to spending without earning. Even though we'd have a good income from investments etc it just seems weird to spend money without earning it. I know the money in the investments was earned but still, will take some getting used to.

I love working and the structure it gives to my life. I think I'd feel a bit lost without it.

We sort of drifted into retirement as our business died during Covid. We'd been struggling to decide when enough was enough, so it wasn't actually a bad things.

I struggled to be comfortable with the fact that there was no more money to be earned - we have to make what we have stretch. It has helped me to prepare a 20+ years cashflow (simple thing on Excel), which shows where we are when.

I've also been volunteering for a couple of mornings a week, which has given me some 'structure', which has been a life saver.
