Do I retire...nhs pension

I used to like my job now I hate it with a passion. Not the job necessarily but the personalities at work have made it a really poisonous place to work. Bullying etc and it is affecting my mental health. Unfortunately there are little options for me to move in my current field. I am currently band 7 and have been for 15 months. There is an opportunity to get a band 6 post in another line of nursing in another trust. My query is this. I am 55 at the end of this year, if I retire and get this other band 6 job are the limitations of the amount of hours i can work in the nhs post retirement, or any other restrictions. I have heard conflicting advice. Also will it detrimentally affect my pension if I go for the band 6 job pre retirement and plough on for another few years. Due to covid I cant speak to an official pension person as yet. I have emailed to request a pension projection. I am single so not able to rely on another income. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure no NHS HR people are working from home? I’d think that some would be and therefore there must be someone in HR that can give you advice?

My advice is get in touch with HR and ensure any advice or information they give you is done in writing over email or if done by a chat function, that you get a transcript. This is for your own protection in case you are given bad advice and have to file a grievance because of it.

You can retire at 55 if you're in the NHS? Wow!

Not everyone can retire at 55 in NHS.Depends upon individuals and when they joined NHS.

You may get pay protection if you go to band 6 from 7- discuss with your own pension people, if you can't get through to Nhs pensions. Your salaries and wages dept will know number.
