We're merging some sections of the Talk boards

Hi all,
We’re doing some work on making the Talk boards more useful and user-friendly for both regular and new users. After looking at some stats for the site, we think we could boost activity on the whole by merging some of the lesser used sections.

We’re proposing to fold the topics in this section into the Workfest area.

This should increase the number of topics in the section - and hopefully lead to more posts and responses to members.

This is a very bad idea.

Retirement isn't about working.

It's about way much more and it needs to be considered, as a matter of policy, as something other than work.

As well as it being way more convenient for users. You want to find threads about retirement? Why the hell would you want to look in a workplace topic, and have to plough through loads of threads about the working years?

It's very hard to find the retirement threads as it is. Making them more visible could only be a good thing to increase traffic.

Lol! Sorry

people can hardly answer why the FCA shut my last company/employer down.

It matters to me, but certainly no one has been or is able to answer me about the FCA what next. On any forum.

I agree with pp - why would you put retirement in a work section? Retirement is the opposite of working

Countdown2023 · 02/09/2022 17:02

Retirement is different from working and can cover many different topics. It is not just about finding a part time job or getting financial advice.

Lots of posters will be in different pension schemes and want different things out of retirement.

not sure if workfest is the right area

Keep retirement separate. It is not work.

While I’m here, why isn’t there a Retirement section in Gransnet? There’ s pensions, but that is not retirement as a concept.

TitInATrance · 19/09/2022 09:52

I didn’t even realise there was a retirement section but now I’m going to head straight there!

Great idea!
Retirement and work go hand-in-hand.

As you get on in life people do think about when to leave/early retire/options/taxes/etc.

How to keep in touch with work mates etc etc

IMHO, all of the forums need to looked and and many more merged as this would make it easier for others to respond, EG, someone talking about a cheating OH may see something re weddings on same forum and may want to respond/help
