Retiring Early

As a single male in my late twenties I plan to retire by 35 and as I see it, it is pretty much possible considering how far I am in my career. Does anyone else think about retiring early?

Hi chris, and what will you then do for next 50 years?

Define 'retire'. It is a purely personal opinion but I don't think it is healthy to retire at 35. For body or for mind. If I didn't have to work for pecuniary means I might still work, as a volunteer or consultant on my terms and with long breaks for nice holidays etc. For me retirement would still be work but less of the paid stuff and more on my terms.

Yes. i always planned to retire at 55, so everything financially was geared around that in my working life. i set that goal at 18 mad i know... but a colleague at the time made me join the pension scheme and i read the t&c's... best decision i ever made....
