Things I got wrong when I retired.

I didn't realise that walking away from the college for the last time would be quite so emotional.
I didn't appreciate the extent to which I would become a "lame duck principal" once my successor had been appointed.
I should have prepared a customised speech for the last meeting of the Corporation, especially in view of the nice things they said about me. No excuses I just never thought to do it.
I should have spoken to the other internal candidate for Principal, who didn't make it through to the second day of interviews, that evening and not the following day. Again no excuses I just never thought to do it.
My PA retired at the same time and her major contribution to the college rather got overlooked in all the other "excitement".

:)

How long have you been retired?

Are you enjoying it now?

Did you use to be a HT? In a college?
