Erotica ball - advise please

Not sure this is the right place to post but a good friend has asked me to go to the Erotica Ball.

He's not been before but has been to an Erotica day event a few years ago. I know nothing about the ball beyond it's somewhere people seem to wear very little, and I'm not naive enought to guess a few erotic things must go on.

He's a good mate - a mate only though - so I trust him to make sure I'm safe etc.

Has anyone any experience of Erotica?

Yes, have been to the day event loads of times (usually selling stuff) and some of the Erotica Parties - though in my day they were generally for traders only and usually pretty dull.
An event as hugely publicised as this is not going to be full-on fucking on the dancefloor as they will be wanting to stay well within the terms of the law. I would imagine that it will be a matter of people in lingerie/fetishwear, overpriced drinks, some burlesque performance and probably an absolutely grim disco playing nothing but 90s chart house.
Of course, it could actually be a lot of fun - it will certainly be safe as there will be bouncers everywhere and probably big lists of rules about no grabbing/groping. If you have never been to anything like it before, it will probably be pretty exciting and you might well meet some lovely people.
I suggest you give it a go and then tell us all about it .

I've been- it was fun. It is just like a posh club. Dita Von Teese was dancing, and there was a buffet on a scantily-clad woman. But it was mostly people in corsets and dinnersuits drinking.

Hey I went years ago in London with a friend of mine. It was mostly just stalls of different sorts ranging from tame to pretty kinky and had some displays, the only nekkid bits I remember was some topless girls on those long sheet thingies which they do in the air (if that makes sense? lol) and it was actually quite artistic. Oh and there was a female sword swallower there which was brilliant but I had to hide behind my friend for most of it! Dress amonst the customers ranged from pretty skimpy / feitshy to totally normal streetclothes from what I remember, I went in a black dress all goth (was in my goth early 20's).

I really enjoyed the day actually and didn't find it weird or embarassing...the only part which freaked me out was the ahem adult baby store. seriously. vom.

All in all was a good day and was kind of nice to see so many normal people being open about sex for a change :-)

Hey Solidgold...hmmm I think it must have been 2001...I doubt you sold me anything as I was a student and poor as a pauper lol, but the guy I went with got some pink pvc trousers (and no he is not gay lol) I totally remember that bit!

I do remember really really wanting all the little pvc dresses..I soo had the body for it back then too, before having a child! Sigh

I think i'd go again, but right now with my fella in another country I think i;d just feel bereft

2001 ooh that was my good year, just had a radical new haircut and the whole GFS range launched. And I had a gorgeous new young boyfriend at the time - and it was actually my birthday as well...

I went to the ball once - ages ago, it's bound to have changed a bit now. It was fun. I wore some cliched classy/bdsm-type outfit in black, then wished I'd gone a bit more haywire: there were some fantastic outfits, as well as rather too much PVC.

Having said which - I subsequently went to live in Rio. Carnaval made London's Erotica ball look like a parents' evening in suburbia

My advice: wear something you consider a little bit outre, but more importantly makes you feel pretty. Hand around with your friend, and treat it as a giggle. Have fun!

I have a black Vinyl dress - sort of ballgownish which I'll wear - I'm far too old for flashing flesh, and I never got my figure back after kids... although I do have some nice corsets... hmmm
