It's my birthday

Well today is my birthday.
Dh and I were arguing last night, I think we are are both stressed at the moment.
Anyway, I was still angry this morning so dh toddled off to work saying I'll give you your present tonight!
I know where he left it, he didn't try and hide it and I guess curiosity overcame me. His wrapping is rubbish and it wasn't difficult to carefully undo a few bits of sellotape.
Well girls, as I say, I guess I deserve it but even I'm a touch shocked at the 'romantic' streak running through him!

It's Paul McKenna's book "Think yourself Thin" and a pc memory stick!!!!

I am disappointed, I can't help myself. It didn't have to be much money but is it too much to hope for that it might be just a little romantic?

OMG.... if thta was me, he would have his bags packed for when he got home! That is NASTY for your BIRTHDAY?!

I did mention them. I know he didn't mean to be nasty. But the man doesn't know what romantic means and I'm gutted!!

What's he like otherwise?
My dh isn't the most romantic man in the world (although he occasionally does something staggeringly lovely which makes it all the more special) but as a day to day support,he couldn't be bettered.
I would rather have a man that washes the dishes,cleans the toilet,gets my car serviced and fills out all my boring formsthan a bunch of flowers occasionally.

Reminds me I am STILL waiting for mine from mid July! and took a whole day out to go to London and buy him a new jacket (complete with mad toddler jumping in window displays etc)

You'd hate my dh then.I got a really heavy (metaphorically and literally) Linguistics textbook from him for my b/day as that was what I wanted.

(Agree that blokes could try to be a little more romantic though. Then everyone would be happy as they'd get a bit more of what they want. Not rocket science is it?!)

oh no! i hope he has got you soemthing else as well, even a bunch of flowers. i think it is probably just a case of men being thoughtless, he may have heard you say you would like to lose a few pounds and so thought you would like the book, i relly beleive that men don't think about women being offended by there presents. thats why just before birthdays and christmas i drop big hints about what i would like or take him shopping and point out things that i would like so that he can come back later and buy one of them.

i think he has the mesage now though as he will only buy soemthing that i have pointed out, or he will buy me flowers and give me a card with money or gift vouchers in.

My DP completely lacks imagination. I'm not demanding at all - I'd be happy with just a load of stuff from lush! But everything I mention in the run up to B day/xmas (mine are close together) I end up getting. Oh, and movie DVD's - cause he likes watching films and he tries to buy them for me to get a chance to watch it himself!

Last xmas he got me the Mel Gibson Chtist one (I can't even remember what its called!), no interest at all in watching that, and I sold it on Ebay for only a couple of quid, I did ask him first but understandably he wasn't impressed - I have made it more than clear I don't want DVD's!!

God I sound like a right spoilt cow don't I?

Ooops Yes it's me. I was too embarrassed to admit to the fact I'd peeked!
I have just e-mailed dh and asked him if I need to guess what my brithday present is.
He just said

Sorry I am sounding so spoilt. I alwasy hope in vain that it might be something romantic - something I could never guess.
But as with everything, he is soo predictable.
I complain to him about this but he reminds me that I would hate him to be UNpredictable too, so I should be grateful!

I agree about the wrapping - at christmas my DH asked me to wrap some stuff for "people at work", so i did, lovely wrapping, bows and ribbons, etc..........come christmas morning guess what santa brought me?

That's right, beautifully wrapped pressies in very familiar paper, with lots of lovely bows and ribbons!!!!!
