Strange Woman or OW?

SueMunch · 01/07/2010 17:16

My DH told me last night that a work colleague of his has been acting really strangely towards him.

Apparently she is moving jobs soon and he had arranged to go for a drink with her before she left. Now, I've met her a few times (they work in retail) and she seems really down to earth but definately not my DH's type.

Anyway, my DH had to cancel the drink (which I'm fine about BTW, it's part of the social life of his workplace)at short notice. He tried to explain his reasons and rearrange the meeting.

She is now no longer speaking to him and is apparently upset because in her opinion he 'couldn't be arsed to meet her'. Although she is moving to a different branch, this woman will still be living in the same city as us, so it's not like they can't rearrange it.

At first I told him to forget about it, but I'm starting to wonder why she has reacted like this. Does anyone think I should be concerned by this?

I personally wouldnt be bothered by this unless you have any other reason to suspect that there is more to it

helicopterview · 01/07/2010 17:37

The fact that he's told you all this makes me feel you have nothing to worry about. (Do you suspect that he has not told you the whole story?)

From what you've said, she could have read more into the proposed drink than was intended. Maybe she is attracted to your DH.

But I wouldn't be worrying while he is keeping you informed.

There is some interesting reading in Not Just Friends (recommended at MN often) about unsafe friendships. Might be worth you and your DH discussing the types of friendships which are risky to your marriage. Like going out alone with someone you know fancies you.

She may just be an immature knacka.

If he had any interest in her, he wouldn't have told you this.
She sounds like one of those nobs you come across in life, hth!

Fruit loop. Forget about it.

AnyFucker · 01/07/2010 20:19

I think you are OK here

Talk to your DH a bit more, just to reassure yourself

"I personally wouldnt be bothered by this unless you have any other reason to suspect that there is more to it"

Well, yeah.

Sounds like she harbours notions about him, but they're not reciprocated. Keep an eye on it, but it doesn't sound as if he is picking up the signals and more importantly responding to them.

sounds like a whole load of nowt

msboogie · 01/07/2010 23:10

yes - if there was anything to worry about he wouldn't be giving you chapter and verse.

She has probably just got the hump.

what's a knacka please chocolatepants ? I quite like the sound of it as a term of abuse...
