What would you think and/or do if you found out that your dp had searched online for an ex?

Her name came up as a suggestion when I was typing something else into google. I checked his fb page but she's not on it. Should I keep quiet or ask him about it. Doesn't look like he found her, because I couldn't. Thanks.

Me too.

Haliborange · 17/06/2010 11:05

Nothing. I often google stalk people from my past. It is not important.

Portofino · 17/06/2010 11:05

In isolation, I wouldn't worry about it. I have looked up all mine just out of sheer nosiness! Well at least the ones who full names I could remember..... I even have one as a "friend" though I have never dared actually send him a message.

TVGardeningFan · 17/06/2010 11:05

TBH - I would think nothing of it. I do this all the time; look up old friends including old boyfriends. I'm just curious to see what they're up to now, does not mean I want to see them, talk to them or meet up.

WhenwillIfeelnormal · 17/06/2010 11:06

No really a problem at all, unless there is other behaviour that needs explaining.

nowherewoman · 17/06/2010 11:07

The thing is, we know where she works, because she works in a shop, and that she has some children, so nosiness can't really be a motive in this case.

So is he in contact with her? What do you think his motive is, then? And as before, is there anything else that's making you feel unsettled by this? Listen to your inner voice, but this on its own doesn't sound anything much to worry about. Even if I've known people's circumstances, I've still googled then in an idle moment, or looked them up on a site, because it's interesting, in a nosey kind of way

DastardlyandSmugly · 17/06/2010 11:26

I too google exes all the time and am pretty sure DH is fb friends with some of his.

nothing. no biggie

Rhian82 · 17/06/2010 11:40

I search for people I used to know (including exes) fairly often. I'm just curious.

toccatanfudge · 17/06/2010 11:42

agree with the rest - I'm a real nosey cow, I even google people I'm currently in regular contact with

suwoo · 17/06/2010 11:43

Me and DH are friends with quite a few of our ex's on fb and neither of us have a problem with it. DH was talking to someone about the same thing recently and he said it speaks volumes about the relationship if either party does have a problem with it.

ie Its not FB itself that makes people run off with their childhood sweetheart, there must have been ishoos there to begin with.

MakemineaGandT · 17/06/2010 11:47

oh I do it too - just nosy! I did casually mention it to DH the other day just so he wouldn't be concerned if anything popped up when he is on google. My motivation is sheer nosiness and that is all - no desire to actually contact any ex! I would just ask your DH if you are worried, but don't be too hard on him - chances are it's all harmless

piratecat · 17/06/2010 11:50

turn the searchy list thing off

Katz · 17/06/2010 11:51

i do it! and have fb friends who were boyfriends, like others here its out of shear nosiness as to who they've become and who've they've married, children etc.

nowherewoman · 17/06/2010 11:51

Ok, normal then, thanks ladies. I'll keep quiet

People do it all the time it doesn't mean they are going to get back with them or start anything. Just because you once went out with someone does not necessarily mean you would again

LilMagill · 17/06/2010 12:36

On my google, suggestions come up automatically for everything under the sun, as soon as you start typing letters in. Including people's names. If yours does this too, especially if the ex has a quite common name, maybe he hasn't googled her at all?

harrierhom · 17/06/2010 13:35

For my view on this "Look Herewww.mumsnet.com/Talk/relationships/980674-Is-my-partner-cheating-on-me"

CrankyTwanky · 17/06/2010 13:55

I wouldn't keep quiet, but I wouldn't be worried either.
