I have the first meeting with the lawyer tomorrow seperating from alcaholic abusive partner, have a 2 year old son who although would like him to know his Father do not want his father to have unsupervised access as he is not responsible and has not had much contact with him at all so far , how do you prove someone is an alcaholic when to everyone else the seem like a lovely guy who is holding down a good job!The judges will give him his 2 days visitation every 15 and off my poor little baby will go into the hands of this alcoholic bully, what can i do to stop this, what should i ask the Lawyer tomorrow, Thanks

Blood tests and liver tests should be able to verify his general state of sobriety. A close relative of mine has non-alcohol related steato-hepatitis (i.e. the stage before cirrhosis of the liver, but his has nothing to do with alcohol), and the tests they do are so accurate they can tell if he's been drinking and how much.

Oh -- and it stays in the liver for weeks, so even if he temporarily gives up for the sake of the test, they'll still know. Same with illegal drugs.
