Help in finding a divorce lawyer in London

My sister has discovered her husband is having an affair. This has come as a complete shock to her, despite years of unreasonable behaviour and I believe mental cruelty. She found out in the worst way possible thanks to the other woman recording their encounter via mobile phone. Ever since she found out at Easter, just before a family holiday, he's been telling lie after lie. She's now realised they need to divorce, they've been married for 16 years with two children. Luckily she's financially independent, however, she's contributed to their finances and needs a good lawyer who'll be able to uncover the various assets. Please help - my sister lives overseas and I just want to be able to provide some much needed support and peace of mind.

Where abouts in London are you? Bennett Welsh come recommended by several friends of mine

Thank you so much. It doesn't matter re where in London as my sister lives overseas, she just needs to act quickly as he's clearly moving money around and proving yet more intolerable to live with. Thank you for the contact, will try that.

"Gill Butler www.burtonwoods.com/pages/solicitors.html" is very good and she takes no nonsense either

Thank you, I really appreciate the help.

Have a look at the Law Society of England & Wales website - they have a "Find a Solicitor" directory where you can search by area and specialism:

www.lawsociety.org.uk/choosingandusing/findasolicitor.law

It will bring up the nearest 50 or so law firms to where you live that have matrimonial lawyers. You say your sister lives abroad, are all their accounts in the UK/ assets in the UK or are there assets held outside the UK as this may also need to be taken into account in any advice that your sister receives.

Good luck to your sister, it all sounds awful but at least she's got you in her corner to help and support her.

Thanks again for the advice - will take a look, however, Gill Butler has proved very helpful and passed me onto someone with international legal experience. Their assets are held all over the place - with homes in the UK and overseas.

It is awful and I don't know how she's managing to function every day, as ever she's keeping it together for the sake of their children.

Hi,

Glad to see Gill has been able to help.

Your sister needs to make copies of all bank statements, investment funds, car documents, details of house, mortgage, insurance etc and post them to you by FEDEX, UPS so they are in a safe place.

Brilliant, thank you all. I've now got some great advice, my sister sounds for the first time in a few weeks as if there's light at the end of the tunnel.
