First time here, thought its an all mums zone, but read a few male postings so really encouraged, and I can see help is generously on tap, so pls bail me out!!!

On biz abroad last 2wks and missing DW very much, returning Fri...can't wait!!! On one of our usual phone chats few days back, discussion moved into clothes, lingere etc. she's trying to loose wgt. Light bulb moment: get some lingere to be delivered for her b/4 I arrive as a surprise, n also encourage her on her weight loss as well. Also it will put some vim back into the lovemaking....getting of the boil a bit. Checked her fav shop online, and thought about these, as she's not got any red in mega lingere collection:

www.lasenza.co.uk/dd/level3.aspx?d=21&type=&style=702042&product=010011157z&im g=SS1010_27&drsize=36E&colour=50

While on the net though I read that red is not currently in fashion, and sort of a no no.
Question is: Does it matter if the colour is out of fashion? I don't mean it for everyday use, but wkend away stuff. Also, given that she hasn't got any red herself, does it not signal she does not like that colour. she has a few dresses in red though.

Also she is of caribbean origin, and I was wondering whether it wld look good on her given the skin colour contrast. btw, she's all curvy and hr glass!

Share some thoughts ladies.....and bail out a confused man, wld like to please my DW!!! thnx

Got some brk time, thought I'll se what's up here, n whoaaaaaa!!, from the hilarious to the sober to the downright.....stick! but wasn't expecting anything different from what I had read earlier on other posts. Thanks for all the thoughts so far, and I think its all pointing in one direction...I get the drift.
But tbh, and hand on heart its real. remember I said we were talking and conversation moved in this direction, so its not contrived.

Marne: thnx, u are right, what do we men know?;

and Malificenece, are red lingeres for whores only?

and crazydiamond, I will not be baited!!!
Floppy21.....nice one!

Myrubicorn, gr8 idea, and yes Fri evening dinner out planned and settled....hopefully she does not do the usual, and rather change her mind and sit behind the box to watch corrie!!!

I will be back for any advise you may have.

Fascinating, in some ways. Mostly though, I feel you must be slightly disturbed.

Mummiehunnie · 02/06/2010 14:44

I hope this was genuine, if so then enjoy being back with your dw, and enjoy the dinner, flowers etc

Have you thought about why she'd rather stay in and watch the telly?

ThatVikRinA22 · 02/06/2010 16:24

awww bless!

Malificence · 02/06/2010 16:25

If I want to wear slutty underwear, I choose it and buy it myself, my DH of 25 years has never bought me undies, nor would I want him to, but if he bought me nasty, scratchy red nylon then he wouldn't know me very well at all.
He also fancies me whether I'm in my ratty old pyjamas and haven't shaved my legs for a week or a basque and fuck-me heels.

If you want more/better/adventurous sex then you have to treat her like a human being and not some fantasy figure waiting at the front door in her underwear.

Women only feel like dressing up for their partner when their partner is worth dressing up for.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 02/06/2010 16:31

I would have no problem with my dh having underwear delivered to me especially as he buys good stuff.

toomanystuffedbears · 02/06/2010 17:13

If it got that far, the 'lingere' would only be on her for 10 seconds so wtf is all this nonsense about color?

Philosophically though, red should be regalated to illegal trade or naughty halloween costumes...the adolescent male fantasy. I agree with others: a sexy gift from a male is about the male.

Buy her something expensive that she has wanted but has put off because of the cost. The computerized sewing machine-the one with the cool embroidery attachments- if she is into sewing, or the pure breed dog she has wanted forever, or duh- a new car.
That will be a slam dunk "I love you" and you can probably get 3 or 4 years worth of mileage off of it.

Smaller scale: flowers say it best. Hand them to her yourself, if possible.

Shine on Shiney!
Really nice post, Grace-that was tactful and graceful and funny.

Newlyarrived: I hope all your lightbulb moments do not involve your 'needs'.

Thanks for the entertainment.

Ronaldinhio · 02/06/2010 17:15

shd?

wtf??

ThatVikRinA22 · 02/06/2010 17:20

ronaldinhio....i fnk its txt spk innit?

i imagine that lingerie would surprise any women.

of any taste.

i also prefer it buy my own slutty undies. and i also decide when to wear them.

jenduff · 02/06/2010 17:29

You know what if DH had been away all week leaving me at home with DC in half term I'd be pretty shattered come the end of the week and the best way of ingratiating himself would be for DH to pay for a cleaner to come sort the house out and for DH to take the DC out for the day for me to recharge my batteries then I may feel more up for it.

newlyarrived · 03/06/2010 10:55

@Lovebeing: she does not like going out really, but once a while agrees, and then sometimes pulls out later......b/c there is a gr8 storyline bla bla bla,

@Fab: thnx for the point.

And perhaps I shd have stated that this is not the first time I am buying her lingere. Know all the required numbers and its never been a problem anytime I have bought her some. What I have learnt though is what ladies think of RED lingere, and how they rationalise MEN, and its been an invaluable insight!
strange pix going thru my head now with @TOOMANY's philosphy. But yes will look out for that flamboyant sowing machine......!!!

OP posts:
QSnondomicile · 03/06/2010 11:06

I think with her skin tone, she might get away with a lacy orange basque, or maybe a turquoise camisole/chemise, whatever.

(trying to get the image of caribbean curves and flamboyant underwear out of my imagination.)

NinthWave · 03/06/2010 11:11

Here's a nice flamboyant sowing machine for you, OP

newlyarrived · 03/06/2010 13:15

@QSnon.......well, I did not mean to cause trouble! but see it helped you give a gr8 suggestion!!

@Ninth..........Brilliant!!!

OP posts:
Anniegetyourgun · 03/06/2010 15:17

Mm, get her one of those new-fangled recording devices, er what do they call them, DVD? old fogey emoticon so she never has to miss an episode of Corrie again.

LoveBeing34 · 03/06/2010 18:15

@Lovebeing: she does not like going out really, but once a while agrees, and then sometimes pulls out later......b/c there is a gr8 storyline bla bla bla,

You really think that a woman doesn't go out with her dh becuase the telly is interesting, get her sky+/v+ as a present then, I really don't think that is the real reason.

newlyarrived · 03/06/2010 19:14

@Annie and Lovebeing: sky++ already in place.

@Lovebeing. Any ideas why she may want to stay in???

OP posts:
DuelingFanjo · 03/06/2010 19:20

shit trolls are boring

LoveBeing34 · 03/06/2010 19:32

Wrong question, why does she want to stay in?

LoveBeing34 · 03/06/2010 19:34

Sorry eastenders has started

question is why doesn't she want to go out?

beingsetup · 03/06/2010 20:06

well I don't know anything about undies but my eldest son read this by accident out loud and was CRYING with laughter. He keeps on saying slutty undies and "fuck me heels" thank god not in public.

I have learned a big lesson about leaving mumsnet on when the kids are wanting to use the computer.

Oh and if you are in the supermarket and hear someone shouting "slutty undies" then cracking up laughing, yes that is my son
