will try to keep this as brief as poss.
Have been chatting to an ex-boyfriend from school (that was yonks ago as I am nearly 41!) over email for about 2.5 years. We have met up v. briefly once and I don't fancy him in the slightest anymore. am happily married with 2 lovely kids. He has been having problems at home and has just moved out from his wife and 2 kids and we talk quite a bit on email and I feel like I am friend to him as he's going through a bad time. I have suggested we meet up one evening so we can talk - he has said he finds it easy to talk to me. Should I tell dh that I am meeting a "friend", ex-boyfriend or what? he will wonder why I have never mentioned him before, I haven't and haven't ever needed to really. What would you do?

I would say "you know xxxx, well I'm meeting up with him at xxxx on xxxx". Wait for his reply and then say "you do realise we dated at school, I hope thats not a problem".

I know that might sound a bit simple IYKWIM but you might be pleasantly suprised by his reaction.

Yes,be honest from the start, otherwise if/when he finds out your connection, he will think there is something to hide even if there isn't.

I occasionally e mail an old boyfriend and dh fine about it. (Secretly a teensy bit jealous I think but won't say so because it is irrational. We are both happily married-I just like to know what he's up to.)

god, yeah Moondog I am the same - if dh was emailing an ex-girlfriend I would be fuming!!! but it's okay for me to do it
