without makeup on. Months ago, in a horrific argument which involved lots of immature slagging each other off, I menacingly asked my dh what he thought of me. He said "your alright with makeup, but rough as fuck without it" I had said things to him that were just as bad and had started the argument, but even though he has sworn on my life since then that he didn't mean a word of of it and was just trying to say something hurtful, I just can't forget it!! I'n really insecure about my face when I haven't got a facefull of makeup on so this is getting to me.

Regardless of what he does or doesn't think of your face, its your face.

You have to find a way of feeling alright with it. Forget about what he said, he was being an arse.

Most of us probably cringe a bit at our unmade-up faces, thats the curse of make-up, you get used to seeing a very enhanced version of yourself.

My face isnt great but I do what I can to make the most of it - look after my skin, groom my eyebrows, bit of fake tan etc.
Make the most of it, unless you can afford surgery then it aint going anywhere!

Yummyorslummy- I don't know one woman who looks great without make-up... I certainly don't.
While we are on the subject, don't you ever meet someone for the first time and think they are unattractive then when you get to know them or even start talking to them they seem really beautiful.. Most the time it is their innerself showing.. maybe confidence within them travels out and you just think they look great.
On the other hand how about a stunning girl then you realise she is a bitch and all of a sudden look ugly
Beauty comes from the inside. Although I am sure you look gorgeous in both cases

it was probably as he said - just to be really really hurtful.

my dh once said - in a similar type argument - that i had 80's hair.

whilst now i pmsl about it - i was devestated at the time. but he was just being an utter twunt. so don't dwell - if anything - take a look at him - i bet he aint my fucking beautuful himself

nickytwotimes · 21/05/2010 19:44

I'd let it go tbh.

You both said deliberately hurtful things that you shouldn't have.

Fwiw, I think most of us look a bit better with make up (or why would we wear it?) but generaly look alright without. This is obviously an area you are insecure about which is why he picked on it. He shouldn't have done so, but you say you did the same thing too. FOrgive each other and move on and try really hard not to get personal like tht again.

diddl · 21/05/2010 20:30

I think you have to let it go & believe him tbh.
