A friend letting you down

Has anyone ever had a friend who makes arrangements to go out and then calls at the last minute to say she cant make it? yet when it is something she really wants (like getting set up with a potential guy) she always seems to beable to make it? (find the money, get a babysitter) I wouldnt mind but when its a planned night out and tickets have been bought its a complete waste of my money. Its happened about 10 times now!! How do I handle it without having a fall out?

I know its very flakey and sometimes I think childcare arrangements are just a handy excuse. When we do go out she seems to really enjoy it and says thanks for asking me, which always makes me feel bad. I havent heard from her since.

Whoopee, Kitty!! I'm so pleased you went on your own! Couldn't post before, as I just wanted to yell GO BY YOURSELF AND DUMP THE FLAKEHEAD

Glad you had a good time. Gigs are easier, since everybody's there for the act - the social part is a bonus, iyswim, instead of the main focus (I do go to pubs on my own, but I'm practised now!)

Girl friends, who always put possible romance before you, are such a pain in the ass I'm surprised any of them survive past school. They do, though Nothing for it but to tell 'em what the problem is - and stop including them in your plans.

Keep going to gigs, though!

Its so much easier when its a band. I will do it again and never, ever buy tickets for anyone. Oh, when she fancies someone in the band its a different story!! I wish I had a decent local I could pop down to. Im so glad I went! Ive been suffering all day though!
