Depo-provera.....

I absolutely hate it. I had the injection nearly 3 months ago and it has been an unmitigated disaster. My sex drive has been eradicated, i developed acne and have now been bleeding non stop for nearly 4 weeks. It's certainly an effective form of contraception - with all of that going on there's not a snowball's chance in hell of me getting pregnant as DH not coming anywhere near me!

Please tell me this is all going to stop soon - the 3 months are almost over but no improvement yet...... I'm getting worried.

Well, with any luck getting your period is a good sign.

As a caveat, I spent 18 months getting very frequent periods after coming off depo, and was infertile the whole time. So, use contraception just in case, but don't assume periods equal health.

Sorry I couldn't be more positive!

Please get off depo asap and get your progesterone levels checked frequently. It took me 12 years, 2 ectopic pregnancies, losing any opportunity to have kids, acne, melasma, anxiety, depression, joint pain, hair loss and complete loss of sex drive plus lots of medication. Finally after 6 weeks of extreme bleeding and pain before i discovered this. The UK depo literature does not contain any warning about what can be a life shattering side effect of depo.

Worst thing ive ever tried, ive never felt rage like it, mood swings so erratic, bloated so much i looked 4 months preg, acne hell, tired, constant bleeding, constantly starving.
i persevered for 9 months and i had to come off it, purely for the fact it turned me into a raging monster then a weeping mess within a timeframe of 10 mins!

I know several women who tried it and it was an absolute DISASTER for all of them. They didn't get back to normal until they went off it. That shit should be banned. I have heard nothing but nightmares about it.
