I asked my DH to leave a few days ago for a week or two to give me and the kids a break from the emotional shite/his mood swings/unbearable atmosphere etc etc. I've said we can review things next weekend and discuss where we go from there.

Just wondered if anyone has found this temporary split to be beneficial or does it usually end up being once out always out?

x

I feel for you spottyshoes

I left my DH and kids for 6 months, rented a flat nearby to get my head together and see what I wanted from my life (I also was diagnosed with PND at this point). It was bliss!
But DH and I started talking a lot more than we had been, also emailing honestly how we felt about each other, and the issues we had. We started dating once a week, which eventually led to sex on the couch . But we always knew I could go home at the end of the evening. I looked after the DC when he was away, so we were 50/50 custody. And after 6 months I moved home and we have never looked back. WE all changed, and for the better. Best thing we ever did but it only works if you are both prepared to make changes and compromises.

Good luck!

Thankyou PC! I couldn't be bothered to go into details however I also have PND! but equally he has grief issues. I have the DC's and we have always been at the sex on the couch stage but I am liking the living apart and dating idea. Will put that to him next week!
Good to hear it worked for you. Thanks again x

DH is going tomorrow.

Will have an answer in a few - six months.

I have a similar thread in chat where quite a few people had positive stories to tell.

Thinking of you.
