Holidaying alone

This summer will be my first summer as a lone parent and i'm really worried about taking the kids on holiday by myself.

I have 4 children aged 9,8, 5 and 3. They're lively and confident, a bit boisterous but pretty good really and very easily pleased. My youngest is very clingy so its always difficult to give the others their fair share of attention and i dont really want to stick them into a kids club all week while i spend all my time with my littlest.

I'm nervous of going to a big site because they all go off in different directions and i'm scared of losing one of them! Equally i dont want to go somewhere too quiet with nothing to do. Specially if the weather is bad.

We dont really mind whereabouts we go. Just somewhere with decent, not too packed beaches and stuff to do if weather is rubbish.... Any ideas gratefully received

Are you after ideas in the uk or further afield?

I took my daughter on a Family Active holiday with PGL, it was great. I'm not a single parent but my husband was working and I wanted a holiday doing stuff and with other adults plus children for my daughter. It was fab, we did the French one in Segries - in fact been back three time now, it's mostly couples + children but everyone one is absorbed into the same activities and communal eating, the children have a good time in the evenings with staff and the adults get a bit of time together too.

Thanks Bob, I had heard of PGL but didn't know they did family holidays. It has given me an idea for the summer
