Im pretty sure im being a little thick, but my dp has absolutley no personal hygiene! He NEVER ever gets a bath/shower i can honeslty say the longest i have noted has been about 3 months before i have said something and he's moaned and gone and got one! but he says our shower is too small he is pretty tall and he has to stoop under it, and he doesnt like getting a bath as he doesnt like the fact that the kids are bathed in it every day and our youngest has quite often poo'd in it (nice!) but seriously! it disgusts me! he assures me he washes himself 'thoroughly' every day but - eewwww! my sister laughs and says when she first met her dh she had to drag him into the shower and make him, but he got better the older he got (god it makes them sound about 4 years old!) she just laughs and says most men are filthy pigs when it comes to hygiene! Sorry for a strange rant but its something i really cant bare - more than almost anything! I hate bad personal hygiene! is it me? or are some men just like this?

Ladymuck - I bath about once a month (if I get the chance). Shower about 3 times a week, and wash every day.

I can get just as clean and be just as hygenic (and use less water) washing with soap and a flannel as I can in the shower. It's also a lot quicker!

My dh is a dirty beast like yours anotherhelen and it annoys me. I hate it when, for example, I change the bed clothes and we have lovely fresh line dried sheets. Then he gets in bed without showering, all filthy and sweaty from his DIY. I've given up nagging about it because he doesn't care.

What worries me more is that we have three sons. At the moment they're young enough to be relatively fragrant, but I can't help dreading their teenage years.

I'd love a man who showers every day starlove. Or even just one who has the odd shower without my telling him.

Caligula · 22/07/2005 13:51

I'd scream and holler and have histrionics if I had a smelly man in the house.

Really I would. DS is simply not going to have the option of becoming a smelly teenager, I'll make his life hell if he tries.

moondog · 22/07/2005 14:14

QoQ,are you talking about now or then with regards to showers? Yes,one can clean 'bed bath' style quite well without a bath/shower,but don't understand why one would choose not to have a bath/shower if able.

PeachyClair · 22/07/2005 14:21

DH is pretty grotty in that he never has baths (no shower here) but he does have an all over scrub each day. Couldnt imagine not having a bath though! Yeeucch

spidermama · 22/07/2005 14:28

My DH will happily spend all day hammering, sawing, filthy and sweating, then put on clean clothes without even washing.

It's not very sexy is it?

AnotherHelen · 22/07/2005 14:42

EXACTLY spidermama!!!!! and we have 2 sons and a third baby due in september (hopefully a girl) and i would hate to think that my sons think his behavior is normal! - they are only 5 and 2 but if they grown up watching daddy be a dirty pig they will just think its ok! and completley agree on the bed linen stuff too! isnt it just yucky?? i have a shower everyday or a bath and with the recent hot weather i have sometimes been getting a couple of showers a day! i HATE feeling sweaty and sticky, if for any reason i dont have a shower/bath i feel really really gross - all manky and mucky! how can he go days/weeks ??? how can anyone??? it HAS to be a man thing! (not all men - i know).

AnotherHelen know how you feel- have 3 X ds, hope they don't copy Dad!

You can tell where dh has been when he comes in from work becasue of the trail of newspaper ink from his grubby hands. He has his scrub when he gets up.

HappyDaddy · 22/07/2005 15:04

Try asking him if he'd want to kiss you if you stank like him.

spidermama · 22/07/2005 15:06

....Oh tell me about it anotherhelen. The they wonder why you don't fancy a cuddle or more. Right! You've inspired me. Things are going to change. I'm starting a new campaign, as of today. No filthy pigs allowed in the marital bed.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2005 15:21

I agree w/Caligula. Show him this thread. Does he realise that by not washing his bits he can make you more suseptible to UTIs, baterial vaginosis, and various other infections if you have sex with him? Yes, that's true. Especially as you are pregnant and have a weaker immune system as a result.

I would honestly not be able to live w/a person who didn't shower regularly - it would just make me sick.

Rhubarb · 22/07/2005 15:22

I'm surprised this question has to even be asked!

HappyDaddy · 22/07/2005 15:31

If he leaves it much longer his willy might drop off.

AnotherHelen · 22/07/2005 17:02

Hahahahaha HappyDaddy! well that would be fine by me! im surprised it hasnt dropped off long ago! im glad ive inspired you spidermama! i think i should do the same, i think he may go completley off his tree but i have to draw the line somewhere! - i suppose if i were to be a mucky cow than it wouldnt be so bad (well obviously it would but iwouldnt see it that way iykwim??) but i LOATH smelly dirty people there IS NO ESCUSE!!! its just complete lack of respect for himself and others and laziness too!!! im glad its not just me that thinks this is gross! the reason i posted this topic was because i was beggining to think it was just me being a picky sod! im glad its not me! - he is gross!!!
