Lonely full time single dad

Phil25 · 22/02/2010 17:03

Hello Mumsnet im phil25 a full time parent of 2 lovely children struggling with the loneliness and boredom of day time and evenings are there any coffee mornigs or get togethers in bedford which a single dad would be welcome to and also does anyone know a good dating site for single parent or where i can meet single parents who wish to date, i know this may sound strange but most of the women i meet get put off by me being a full time single parent and the ones that dont seem to be happy living on benifits and dont seem to want to go anywhere in life.

Many Thanks Phil

Hi Phil25

There's a meet-up section of the site here - you might find a Bedford meet-up on there already - or post your own.

As for the dating, I can't really offer any advice apart from match.com. I know it's not specifically for single parents, but I met my now-husband on there and he was single with kids. You never know!

Welcome and I hope you find who/what you're looking for!

have a look on Gingerbread and at your local sure start centre for meetings - ours has one specifically for dads; both single and otherwise

Hello phil just wanted to say welcome to MN

Have you checked out your local authority website, they often have loads of info of what's on for parents.

Phil25 · 22/02/2010 19:33

Thanks everyone will do as instructed and look

You could also do worse than hang around here and get involved in any posts that take your interest. There's a few blokes who post regularly. Lot of advice and laughs to be had and it's not all mummy stuff!

Thanks mrsboogie i will do, i am just about getting the hang of how this site works and thank you also for letting me join in.x

Am a lone parent in Bedford too...... Have a look on netmums local, I find it better than mumsnet (sorry justine!)

we go to a toddler group ( only one I've found which is welcoming and non cliquey) and good old 'kidz world'

Bedford has no gingerbread? Or at least didn't used to

Hi Phil,

There's a really great single parent site called SingleWithKids (www.singlewithkids.co.uk/). They have various meetups around the country, this is their calendar of events: www.singlewithkids.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=calendar.

They also have a single parent dating site which is very reasonably priced: www.singlewithkids.co.uk/single_parent_dating.htm. I've used it and it's great, although I haven't been on any of their single parent holidays, so I can't comment on what those are like.

Good luck Phil x

Hi sarahwils i have joined the dating site but so far have noticed alot of women dont have kids which is abit strange lol but the price is very good so i am giving it a go to see what happens lol.
