skype list of blocked users

I have just found on our Skype, a list of blocked users. There are 29 names none of which I know. Does anyone know if these are people who have contacted the other user dh. Clearly someone has blocked them, but how did they need to be blocked? He has a list of contacts, they are not on that list. He is IT cute, I find it hard to imagine that these blocked users got there by mistake. How does one contact them to verify?

It's possible they are spam, I get quite a few Skype messages which are clearly spam so I immediately block them and delete their message.

Why would you want to contact them?..

I get contacted by people I've never heard of on skype and I always just block them cause I'm not interested.

I block Skype spam. For about 6 months last year, something went wrong with Skype and millions of users were getting unsolicited messages form purveyors of "sexy Russian brides" and similar

Seems to have been fixed recently - but I have my security set to maximum. Anyone with more sociable settings than mine will inevitably get spam.

I leave my computer switched on all the time and get probably one spam skype per day, I just automatically block the user, don't even read the messages.
Unless you have some other reason to be suspicious I won't worry at all.

I get 1-2 messages a week on skype from people selling ink,viagra,vallium etc or wanting me to look at their sexy pics because they are really horny. I block all of them.

I have never been contacted by a stranger on Skype. My dh set up the system. I simply wondered who these people are. If its spam thats the answer. How do they get the Skype address?

I don't really know anything about how they get the addresses but its not very sophisticated stuff, I get sexy girl likes want to chat type messages and from my skype name its obvious I'm not a guy so maybe they can just spam everyone online at a particular time.
Like you my dh set up my account and he'e the only person who ever calls me so no idea how I get spam.
On a related note I've noticed that spam via hotmail has increased recently as well.

If you do a blank search from the Contacts menu item, Skype will give you 100 results.
If you just put a "b" in the name box, it will give you 100 results beginning with B.

They used to maintain a directory of users on the Web! Not sure if it's still there ... Anyway, as a peer-to-peer service, Skype actually needs people to be able to find users. The more people use Skype, the bigger the network becomes & the service should improve as a result. The spam is just one of those things.

I get those, I block them.

Yep - I have been contacted numerous times on Skype by people wanting me to add them to my contacts ... some have even managed to start chatting! The cheek!

I block them too. That is the first thing I thought of when I read your post. I wouldn't be worrying. If there were something to worry about ... well, why would he block them?
