Definitions of marriage

I really like this this book review and very much agreed with its definition of modern marriage. In the light of multiple threads on MN where it is quite obvious that what is at stake are conflicting opinions on what marriage is about, what do you think?

All I know is that I'm loving Committed, and it speaks to my own thoughts and feelings about marriage so far.

I mean, what is marriage, really? And why do we do it? All I know is that those answers, for me, are intensely personal ... and are deepening with every discovery I make about my husband and my relationship with him. It is, right now, a profound adventure.
