Irritating cough that makes me swear

I do believe that occasionally a cough can be a form of communication, in this case, it is a)loud, so loud it makes you jump if you are in the same room or even next door b)sharp and piercing c)escalates in pitch ending in a sort of musical ornament. In the tonic sol-fah it would read: me! me! me! me! doh-la; the timing is three full beats followed by three half beats.
So what is he saying? He is in a very frustrated and angry phase. Otherwise I suppose I would just be offering the cough mixture.

He sounds ill, have you asked him if he's OK?

Try getting him to sing "High on a hill with a lonely goat herd"?

He says his tubes are damaged and he'll always have to cough like this. Sometimes I long for a little gentle throat clearing with closed lips.
LOL Letmethrough. How funny I was just singing that today to my 13yo DS and telling him how his big sister and I sang it to him while he was in the womb and he always smiled when he heard it. How did you know!! Weird me out.
