I still can't believe it. Friends of my DH and I are splitting up. DH is closer to the husband and I am closer to the wife although we've considered them as family for many many years. Their 3 children play with ours and we've always spent alot of time in their company. I'm trying to support the wife who wants to try and save their marriage, whilst my DH is supporting the husband who basically doesn't and has behaved badly and quite out of character. I know I can't get them back together but I wish I could make him see what he is going to lose.
Meanwhile I'm trying to help the wife through this awful time. I just don't know how to help her when it appear there's no chance of reconciliation or hope. She tells me that me just listening helps but I wish I could do more.

All you can do I think is be there for her, be willing to listen and be supportive. This is all I have wanted from friends during a difficult time.
