Roseability sorry to have copied and pasted most of your other thread's OP but I have been wanting to ask this for ages myself and you gave me the courage. I have namechanged btw.

How have you come to peace with this situation, knowing they will never be able to give you normal family love?

How do you keep an emotional distance and protect yourself?

I am at a low point with my own dad. I do not know how it will develop. It was bad enough when I was on my own but with children it gets a lot more complicated for all party involved.

Any experience helps.
