how to find "closure"

I have not got on with my family for a number of years. Long story but basically divorced parents each playing games over their children (of which I am one). Throw in a bit of domestic violence, hypocrisy, anger and lies and there you have it.

I have managed to create a loving family of my own - lovely DH, fab DS. I have a small but loyal group of friends.

I wish I could stop thinking about my birth family and get on with living my own life. I feel pulled back into all the old arguments, divisions etc

Has anyone been there and can give me a mantra or something just to tell enough is enough and to get over it.

"That was then, this is now."
It helps me stay focused on the present and shred the brain junk of the past.
