Somewhere grown up to stay for a weekend in September?

We want to go on a weekend away without the child (only ever done this once in the last 3 years) to celebrate 5th wedding anniversary. In an ideal world (the one where I am very rich and of course very thin and beautiful!) i'd like to go somewhere like Babbington House. However at £185 per night, it's out of the question.

Any ideas of somewhere that feels grown up, chic, decadent that would be a really nice treat but that doesn't cost the earth...??

desperatehousewife · 18/06/2005 13:52

I think that warner holidays are nice. Only for grown ups and you can get deals. here

have been here which was lovely I live in the south east and it wasn't far. They may have a place closer so have a look on the website.

They often have special offers and late deals. will have a think for other places.

desperatehousewife · 18/06/2005 14:01

thanks for that.

I quite fancy the idea of staying in a lighthouse. Maybe I should look at National Trust holidays?

We like The Mansion House in Poole which is nice, and for your £185 per night (for 2) you'd get dinner in their fab restaurant thrown in, and a bit of change too.

I second the Malmaison suggestion. The Hotel de Vin chain is rather nice too.

If you don't mind travelling to North Yorkshire, within the moors, AmerdaleHouse

I used to work there and it is gorgeous with mouth watering food!!! Pure luxury in gorgeous countryside, but Skipton is just 20 mins drive away.

Chyla · 18/06/2005 19:28

Or even, why don't you go to Blackpool? Revisit you're childhood, but stay in the quiet and more upmarket North Shore where you can sit on the rocks and gaze out over the sea. I have stayed at TheNewKent just recently and it was a lovely stay. Only £18 per night too for standard room with a balcony, sea view and sun chairs! I even got a tan lol!

WideWebWitch · 18/06/2005 19:31

What about The White Hart at Calne? I haven't been there but the site looks nice. Maybe you could ask if any local mumsnetters know it. Only £57 a night but looks nice.

janeybops · 18/06/2005 19:57

Dart Marina Hotel in Dartmouth is nice and they have speials on at different times of the year.

soapbox · 18/06/2005 21:35

How about the Isle of Wight? We discovered this little gem of a hotel recently. Lots of nice walking, cream teas and beaches etc locally.

the wellington hotel ventnor

Go for a superior room with balcony - wonderful sea views!

desperatehousewife · 19/06/2005 14:44

Thank you so much - white heart and wellington both look fab!
