My Husband has a get together going on today with his friends and their wives. It was a big group event but we are all unwell including my husband but he still wants to go, which is fine, I do not want to stop him. However, I am very ill and I have 2 small children here who are ill too.

The plan was we stay overnight in the Hotel. One of our friends and his girlfriend are returning around 6pm as they have a small baby and do not wish to do the over night stay of the event.

I suggested to my Husband that he could go to the event (he will be leaving in a few minutes, it really is all day) and have the swanky lunch, a few drinks, go the the planned afternoon but asked if he would consider coming home with the friend at 6pm as we are all unwell.

He has refused,

So I will just have to deal with all the ill childen tonight alone.

Perhaps I am being totally out of order asking this but I really don't know!

Spoon

I don't think you're spoilt - you're all ill but he's happy to leave you to struggle ill alone with ill dcs while he's goes out and probably prolongs his illness and you have to run around him ill even more.

I don't think it's a HUGE issue either way but I'd be a pissed off tbh.

My dh and I have huge issues but he wouldn't leave me alone ill to look after ill kid (not for me to but ensure kid is OK!).

I assume he does go out sometimes? And you?

I would expect my DH to say (and mean) that he'd stay with me and the DC's. I would then insist he goes and enjoys himself - no point everyone being miserable.

No point getting him to come home at 6 after a few drinks. Worse than useless. Why don't you all go and stay in the hotel, he can go out, you and the children can get room service and then he can look after you all when you boot him out of bed at 6am!

If the circs are: it's more or less a one off, and I was not unable to function with the children, I would let him go and wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

It's a fantastic thing to have in the bank.

I don't think it's unreasonable for him to come home. It's a basic consideration for your other half. He'll have had the whole day to catch up with his mates.

What sort of person could seriously have a good time whilst his LO was suffering in bed, not only in need f some TLC, but having to care for ill DCs as well.

Selfish, I think.
