Are you all originally from the NW or are any of you immigrants like me?

lilibet · 21/05/2003 22:04

I'm a native, managed to move 8 miles from one side of Wigan to the other! Where are you from originally?

Carmel · 21/05/2003 22:04

Have been an immigrant just not now! I always end up back here!

Originally from over the other side, in Lincolnshire, but have moved about. I like the north west though.

Unfortately in sodding Surey. Apologies to those who love it - once a northerner. actually, that's nonsense. After college did a post grad in London and was v happy in Herts. Just never made any friends in Surrey as work full time in London and we seemed to spend time visiting friends in various places. But mums net is so good and have met alovely lady and should make more of an effort. We had a meet up which was good and met some lovely ladies - have seen one since who has been incredibly kind since my problems. Also offers from another v nice person which I must pursue.

Lilibet, I vaguely remember a north-west meet up being discussed. Did it ever happen?

Hilary · 21/05/2003 22:11

My dh is from Surrey but would never go back. Thankfully! South of Birmingham would be a bit problematic for me!

lilibet · 21/05/2003 22:14

I know there has been one recently, but I never got involved with the thread, I was planning to go on one ages ago, but life(leaving husband, moving house, that sort of thing!!) took me over and I had to lay off mumsnet for a bit. Have you been on one?

Hilary · 21/05/2003 22:16

No, I vaguely entered into the discussion about one you were thinking about going on but it was right in the middle of your house move etc so my guess is, it didn't happen. I have never been on a meet up. My problem being that I keep moving counties!

I'm another immigrant - suvner (Middlesex) - and love it up here, except for the weather which is undeniably crap compared with further south!!!

A few of us had a small meet-up last summer in Manchester - it was while the Commonwealth Games were on so there were some very interesting-looking people wandering around. That was Rhubarb, custardo (who lives in Brighton but is from up here and was visiting), Tinker, coxy and me - as usual there were 2 or 3 others who had hoped to make it but couldn't in the end, I think leander and Empress were among them?

Met in a pub and then had a Chinese, it was great!
