please just tell me your experience of a sister,i have one and boy what a sister she is! i also have 2 daughters very close in age and would hope that they will be each others rocks

My sister is lovely she is 10years younger than me!
My mum left my dad with her when I was 15 (she left me and mt brother with my dad for very long sordid reasons) and she was 5, they moved to another country and I had very little contact until I was about 18, then sporadic until I moved to the same country at 25!
We are as close as could be now, and she is my best friend, and my DD's guardian shoudl anything happen to me, I would trust my childrens lives to her!
I adore her
I hope my 2 DD's (6 years between them) will have the same sort of relationship!

I have 2 sisters - and I love them both so much. We support each other.

My eldest sister (8 years older than me) was always the disciplinarian (neglectful parents) so she used to keep us all in-line. We recently found out this was due to the fact that our mum used to blame her and punish her if any of us did anything we weren't supposed to.

My other sister (6.5 years older than me) is the nurturing and caring one. Sweetest person I know.

My brother (5 years older) is alway's up for a laugh. But very caring and considerate.

We still look after each other (although, I was the one being looked after when we were all young) - maybe it's because we had to as our parents didn't do a very good job of it!

They say you can't chose your family - but I'm very lucky with my siblings. We're all so different - but we all care for and love each other lots.

Sounds like the relationship you have with your sister is the opposite.

My sister is 4.5 years younger than me and is very nice. We tell each other things we can't tell anyone else, and whinge about the rest of the family to each other (our brother is a complete tit and our mum thinks the sun shines out of his bottom). I don't think we've ever seriously argued, though we often have differences of opinion. We shared a bedroom until I left home aged 17, which was great fun. She has a very different lifestyle from me and I don't agree with a lot of the decisions she has made, but we get along just fine. I am a bit jealous of her eyelashes, though: they look like fake ones.

I have two older sisters. What pains in the arse they are. But I love them lots.
Though we can argue for the UK we always have a great time when we get together and I know they will be there if I need them (and WERE there when I needed them).

I had a great time growing up with sisters. There is 3.5 years between me and my oldest sister and 18 months between me and my other sis so we are all close in age.

My sister is 2.5 years younger than me. She was spoilt by my mother, who was also the younger of two girls and spoilt by her mother, and my father, who was second of five children and the second boy, did not intervene to prevent this.

As a result she has grown up thinking that the world revolves around her, and my mother doesn't disabuse her of this. So she is often frustrated and angry at others, quite unjustifiably, for not fitting in with her plans. Grrrrrr.

Other than that she is quite intelligent and used to be very pretty and slim (she was more attractive than me when we were younger) but has sadly let herself go (she lacks self-discipline, but I suppose that is a feature of having been spoilt).

I'm 20, older sis is 23/4 (unsure lol) and younger sis is 19 in September and off to uni!

My younger sis (D) and I got along better when we were younger and me and older sis (T) hated one another. Now me and T get along better and D has turned into a little bitch, to be blunt. She's very pretty and knows it, shes very blunt about her opinions on me and my OH being open to polyamory, blunt on her opinions that I find other men (and women) attractive, blunt about my dress sense (or lack thereof in her opinion), my job, my qualifications, my dropping out of uni, my birthday party choices earlier this year, etc etc. She's just a bitch. Whereas T has been a saint to me this past year (never thought that I'd say that! , she organised my party for me, supports my idea of being part-time nanny/instructor, supports me when I choose to stay with long distance OH and so on and so forth.

I'm hoping that uni will make D grow up somewhat so that I can salvage our friendship, and I'm hoping that me and T will get closer still, but it's all part of being sisters right?

i honestly would have given her the world,although my family made it that i should hate her,blatant favouritism. we have now been estranged for 3 years and there will be no going back,mainly because that would be disrespectful to my girls and what shes done to them or rather not,i just hope history doesnt repeat itself we constantly tell the girls we love them and that they love each other and should always look after each other. heres hoping

When we were younger we hated each other! We shared a bedroom with gaffa tape down the middle declaring who's side was who's. She was a tomboy, I was a girly girl.

Then we grew up & although we're still fairly tomboy & girly we are the best of friends.

We've been on hols together, shopping together, will always tell each other the truth, even if it may be uncomfortable.

Don't tell her, but I love her dearly!!

My sister is the same as BonsoirAnnas, believing she always has to be centre of attention and if everyone elses plans do not fit in with hers she gets a right mood on with my mum.
I've been really ill the past 2.5mths and not once has she called to see if i'm alright. I can't remember the last time she saw DD on her own behalf.

My mum knows how I feel about her, and my mum will agree she has brought us up differently. I do not have a sister as I don't believe no sister of mine can be so selfish and self centred.

my sister is 5 years older and i hated her when we were growing up. now we both have kids we're very close. i talk to her regularly on the phone (we live 5000 miles apart) and sometimes i think she's the only one that really gets me.

but you can't be responsible for your sister. you can't fix her. you can just be the best person you can and if she throws it in your face, well, she's had her chances - plural, by the sounds of things.

Three between us, hated each other growing up as we shared a very small room.

We're very different. I have the life she always expected to have - married with lots of dcs. Had a career first and worked hard for a degree but that's all forgotten by her as she constantly talks over me and belittles what I do.

I'm really not that fussed by it as long as we keep our distance.

More than a few days together and we want to throttle each other.

But tbh that's the way I find best with all my family - at 200 miles apart we get on just fine, more than a week together and it just doesn't work.

I have three half sisters, who are 13, 16 and 17 years older than I am. I never grew up with them due to the age gap, and having a different father obviously complicates things.

I don't really have a relationship with them mainly due to the fact that they let me down so badly when our mother died when I was a child (I was only 10 and had no support from them, I was just 'in the way' of their grief and they made no effort to help me with anything and didn't bother coming to visit me etc). I avoid seeing them much at all now due to a combination of past hurt, and the fact that they are all so close to each other, being 'proper' sisters. I never used to talk about them as 'half' sisters, until a few years ago when one introduced me as her half sister to a friend, that really stung

am back from the dreaded invasive scan IN being the appropriate part of invasive .i am still very sad at a loss that really i never had in my sister,and dont really know why she has been so horrible all her life,after all she was the golden child who could do no wrong and when she ever got caught doing wrong it was just ignored,and no i'm not the resentful sister who has imagined it all i have had family members who have seen it first hand,my parents oldest friends said they knew it was blatant favouritism and i didnt know untill after my grandma died,her view was i was pushed out of home at 18 because of how things were there. she was right i did buy my first home at 18 to escape the situation with my family

I have an older sister (just over 2 years) and although we are very different in terms of personality I love her to bits and would do anything for her.

laurielou - I thought that the gaffa tape thing was only ever something that was done in movies :D

Rindercella - My older sis used to bully me in front of both mine and her friends too, and they commonly bullied me because of her too I got bullied by her 'enemies' until I changed school as well, because they couldn't touch her (headmaster's pet!) But thankfully she grew up somewhat after she left home (in that sense anyway, she still acts like a child 99% of the time!)

I can't believe some people can be so bitchy to family, I thought my lil sis was bad, but apparently not as bad as she could be

must admit laurielou made me lol bout the gaffa tape,we had a shared room sis half was immaculate with everything in place,my half well you could have found a lodger in there we didnt know bout! how things change, i'm not some sort of clean freak but i do think its norm to clean cat pee & poo up if they have an accident indoors unlike my sis who pulled a bench over the runny poo in her bedroom,it stayed there for months, and placed a sandwhich box over her plug sockets so the cat didnt blow the electrics every time it peed on the walls and didnt wipe it off,the smell was horrific

i have three that i love, but they don't all see eye to eye which is sad.

I have a sister, 2 years my elder. We got along pretty good as kids, and very well these days.

She is very energetic and fun. She is impulsive and confident and (dare I say it) somewhat irresponsible).

i am very steady and reliable and regularly martyr myself for the greater good. I am very studious and work really hard. Probably you would say she was the pretty one and i was the clever one, although she is not so much prettier than me, and I not so much cleverer than her.

We had a bit of mutual jealousy growing up. She was dad's favourite and I was mum's. She must have found that harder than I did cios we lived with mum after our folks divorced.

I wouldn't be without her. i feel the need to temper all her crazy schemes but really i would give her the skin off my back.

I have one of each and i feel a bit sad that dd does not (and probably never will) have a sister. I don't htink mixed siblings can have the same complex deep bond as sisters. On the up side my dsis has a little girl 9 months younger than my dd. i hope they are able to develop a sisterely relationship

My sister is almost 16 years younger than me and is only just 2 years older than my Ds1 .

We generally gang up on/wind up our mum. She comes on our family holidays with us and is a typical stroppy teen.

I am not sure how our relationship will pan out in the future as I am so much older than her.

I have two younger sisters.

One is 5 years younger and as children we fought like wild animals. Now we are not close, don't have a lot in common, but we like each other and are always around if needed.

The other is 8 years younger and I've always felt a bit parental towards here. I like her a lot. We have a very similar outlook and share a lot of interests. She once told me she used to sit outside my room to listen to my music and would go in when I was out to read my books, but never said because she thought I'd find her annoying. I wouldn't have.
