Me and H are not together for now and wont be anytime soon if ever (i hope to get it back on track a some point)

Anyway i need help with finances etc, sorting it out on monday and thought some of you may have the advice!

I have DC (9 months) and the rented house (£300 pcm, 3 bed bungalow)
I have a weekend job and get roughly £220 a month - my now only income. oh and i am 19 (may make a difference i dont know??)

What do i apply for? What am i entitled to? I am worried where we will end up.

You will be fine. You need to apply for benefits asap. How many hours a week do you work? I believe you can work anywhere up to 16 hours and benefits will not be affected.

You are now a lone parent so should get income support, you can then apply for housing benefits, and tax credits (I am no expert on these though so don't take my word for it).

Theres is a good website here entitled to that will help you work it out. What about your H will he be paying child support? You will be ok.

you will be entitled at the very least to tax credits which will probably bring your income up to be able to afford the house. If you still can't afford it, you will probably be entitled to a bit of housing benefit. Phone 0845 300 3900 tomorrow to speak to Tax Credits and get a claim in ASAP.

I brought up my son as a single mum from 13months until 6 years of age. I rented and was on a low income for most of that time. It's perfectly do-able! You will be able to afford a house, if not exactly that one. But try to get some cash together for the period before the benefits start getting paid into your account.
