Would you be upset if your DP/ DH didnt remember you had a hospital appointment tomorrow?

Just spoke to him, he works away all week, I reminded him several days ago about it as I have been stressing abit about it.

Spoke tonight and he obviously didnt remember and I couldnt be bothered to remind him.

I sometimes think he is so wrapped up in himself he doesnt think of anything else.

I know he will ring tomorrow eve and probably wont have remembered so how do I approach the situation and would you be upset?

I wouldn;t be, but I am used to my DH.............he doesn;t remember what he had for lunch today, let alone dinner yesterday, so it really doesn;t bother me.

in fact, I have to go for a 'fasting' blood test tomorrow morning, and I will need to leave him a note to remind him to please not make me a coffee in the morning, even tho he has been told a few times today.

depends tho really on what your DH is like. is he normally good and just stressed right now??

madm00se · 27/04/2009 20:03

Depends what the appt is for, if it's something major, eg heart, pregnancy, then yes, but anything less trivial, then no. I would just come out & say-"Oh, the specialist said xyz at the hospital today". Hope it's nothing serious though, and hope everything goes well.

Northernlurker · 27/04/2009 20:07

Well if you remind him about it in a sniffy way (as you are justified in doing because he should have remembered - you would have in his place wouldn't you) he will doubtless feel guilty and got-at and neither of those states is conducive to him actually supporting you. I wouldn't mention it again until you've been. Assuming you get good news then just say 'everything was fine at the hospital - what a relief I was worried' - and leave it with him. hopefully that will remind him enough not to be crap next time. If the news is bad then ring him and cry asap. What's important really is what he does after the appointment. Him fretting about it now as well won't help - though a gesture that the world does not only exist in his head would of course be nice!

Hope you get good news

The thing is DH is ALWAYS like this and it is bugging me more and more, the fact I have to remind him every time his children have done something, he does have alot on at the mo but it just anoys me.

I dont know if it's serious or not really but I am abit worried about it and I have to go on my own, it's to diagnose PCOS (or at least thats what they think it is)

Thanks though!

NPG1, I hope it goes ok tomorrow, and please, try not to fret about your DH;s lack of apparent care..........he sounds just like my DH, and I know he cares, he just shows me in different ways to remembering the hospital appointments.

My dh never remembers when I have a hosp appointment, and I have one every couple of months!
I find it mildly irritating, but he doesn't forget on purpose so it would be unreasonable of me to be upset.
Just tell him how it went tomorrow night when you talk, and tell him you know he had forgotten and that you were a little upset as you were a bit worried about what to expect from the appt.

gigglewitch · 27/04/2009 20:27

mine never remembers either

snigger · 27/04/2009 20:35

DH is hopeless about appointments, meetings, diarys dates ... but ... I had worries about a smear a bit back, and long after I'd put it out of my mind, he unexpectedly raised it again and admitted he was desperately worried about it - I think if it's not if his personal time planner DH is a bit stereotypical in his inability to prioritise, but it's more just how he deals with things - he treats his own appointments and suchlike with the same level of disregard.

I agree it depends on your DH - only you know if this is a personality foible or a personal slight.

Hope your appointment goes well.

psychomum5 · 28/04/2009 17:57

how did it go today??

and did you DH remember eventually?

MmeLindt · 28/04/2009 18:04

I send my DH an email and he puts it in his Outlook calender. My iPhone speaks to his Blackberry more that I speak to him.

How did it go? And did he remember?

motheroftwoboys · 28/04/2009 18:08

My DH forgets his own appointments never mind mine! and I texted DS1 to remind him of a dentist appointment (one hour beforehand) and he STILL forgot! Men!!

TheFallenMadonna · 28/04/2009 18:17

I'm rather glad you posted this as it has reminded me that DH had one today and I probably should ask him about it when he gets in

Hope your own appointment went well.

whatdoyouallthink · 28/04/2009 19:09

My h always used to forget even when they were pregnancy related. Used to have to remind him a week before, few days before and then the day/night before. Never really bothered me as I always forget things too. Im sure if it was even his hospital appointment I would have to remind him just as much.

Hope your appointment went well.
