what is a crisis appointment??? Is it like an emergency meeting? What are you issues, will it help if you both write them down beforehand?? What is the main objective of you going and what has prompted it??

(lots of questions, sorry!)

That's what a friend who had experience of Rlate described it as. Basically you get one session in a few days and decide how many more you need I think.

Prompted by me wanting to move out with the kids. DH has done nothing wrong but I don't love him any more and can't stand to be in the same room as him. He doesn't on any level deserve to lose the right to live with his kids and vice versa though so very difficult situation (as it always is, obviously). No idea how to move forward

The meeting will be to establish your objectives in going (the outcome you'd like) and briefly the issues that led you there. You'll negotiate how many sessions you want with your counsellor (who may not be the same one as at your initial meeting).

Good luck .

Had one a few weeks ago. they ask for background info on you both and what brought you to asking for the meeting and what you want to achieve.

they use this info to match you up to a counsellor and on the spot advice.

Its a bit traumatic explaining your relationship in a nutshell to a complete stranger, face to face.

expect some fall out afterwards though - does your dh know that you want to leave?

Whose idea was it to go to Relate, his?
The initial app is to establish what the main problems are, and what you want to do. It might help to have a few things written down, but you're free to leave if you want before the time is up - no law against it! You may find that the counsellor asks questions, which you and your H will answer, and that the 50 mins goes quite quickly with three people taking turns speaking. Don't worry

It did go really quickly and was really helpful . We both thought the other knew where the office was though, cue farcical bickering on the way to marriage guidance hehe.

Relationship and co-parenting abilities still shite though.

Give it time - the sessions can be quite different to the initial one.

Thanks.
