Doing? Cooking lunch for 8 .
Getting? Home-made cards and some delightfully tacky gifts I expect.

Am a bit narked atm. Mum's b'day on 14th so was going to go over and make a fuss of her so I would feel better about not going over on Mothers Day. But DH's nephew wants us to go over to his bday party this weekend instead, and yet again SIL isn't bothering to do anything for MIL so DH and I will have to step into the breach

hopefully breakfast in bed consisting of soggy cereal and cold tea "we know only grown ups are allowed to use the kettle mummy" a flower picked from the garden all served up by little chubby hands sticky with jam

oh and a homemade card with "hapy bifday mummy" we lov you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

then we are all going to go round and see my bro and SIL who have a 6 wk old baby girl

I was going to get dm some lola rose jewellery in the sale on brand alley but when I looked at the expected delivery the earliest it would be despatched was March 23rd, so too late.

I will have to think again.

I would like a yellow handbag from Dune but I don't think dp's Mother's Day budget will run to it tbh.

StercusAccidit · 09/03/2009 15:18

Don't know about me but i'm getting cards and pressies for DP's mum, my mum, SIL who does a brill job of looking after DSC's, and DSC's so-called-mum who doesn't deserve anything IMO but she is still their mum and it wouldn't be nice for them to go see her and have nothing to give.

Will probably get something off DS1 as he has been very secretive and saving madly for something ... i have contributed to the fund without comment

Thinking of my mum who died 2 years ago... and hoping for a nice card from my kids.

StercusAccidit · 09/03/2009 16:27

Yes straw i'm glad you posted that tbh.
My nan died this year so my mum will be feeling fragile i bet.. must give extra attention

Thanks..sorry ..not trying to upstage your post its just that you helped remind me. They're not forgotten just because they aren't here. Wishing you a happy mothers day when it comes

Strawbezza · 09/03/2009 16:29

Thank for your wise words StercusAccidit. Your post is spot on.

Cooking lunch for my mum (and dad).

I will probably get a card each from the DS's and a bunch of flowers. As long as they have chosen them, then that is enough for me.
