Does your DH wear a wedding ring?

If you have a DH of course.

Do you mind if he does or not.

We are getting married this summer and my DF (? hee hee ) doesn't fancy wearing one as he already wears a signet ring (currently lost actually) and his dad doesn't wear one.

I'm not sure if I care or not. In some respects I think it might make him think twice before he stepped outside our marriage vows. Or it might put single chicks off - but then some singlies target married men don't they.

I'm not paranoid but he is a good looking bloke. well primarily he is a bloke so there is bound to be some temptation during a marriage.

told mine that if he wouldn't wear one then neither would I. Sorted.

nailpolish · 06/04/2005 09:43

my dh wears one, i think its sexy

Blossomhill · 06/04/2005 09:44

Yes he does. A russian wedding band, he really wanted one.

franke · 06/04/2005 09:44

Yes, he does but I don't.

Bozza · 06/04/2005 09:44

Mine does.

Fio2 · 06/04/2005 09:45

mine does, think its odd if they dont

survivour · 06/04/2005 09:46

Hi, I think the most important thing is your vows, don't worry about rings, I've been married over 13 years now, and when HE upsets me, I fling my ring at him..... He finds it and after a couple of days puts it back on my finger. I've not worn my ring for over a year now, I've lost a lot of weight, and it just slips off, he on the other hand has not taken his off, at all. Must mean at lot to him.....

expatinscotland · 06/04/2005 09:46

Yes. We both do. If he didn't, I wouldn't either.

Nemo1977 · 06/04/2005 09:47

my dh does and thinks that it is a symbol of our marriage to other people. He also says that it reminds him of his family at home.bless him..lol

aloha · 06/04/2005 09:47

Mine doesn't. He hates jewellery on men - doesn't even wear a watch. I honestly think wearing a ring has NOTHING to do with whether he is unfaithful or not. I trust my dh 100%.

Kayleigh · 06/04/2005 09:47

My dh doesn't wear one and we've been married 12 years (on Friday !!).
He doesn't like jewellery (only wears a watch) and I don't see it as a problem. I trust him.
IMHO I don't think a wedding ring makes any difference, if someone is going to stray they will.

aloha · 06/04/2005 09:48

As for, if he didn't, I wouldn't argument....well, I LIKE jewellery

Fio2 · 06/04/2005 09:50

well mine got flung down the toilet on sunday night then i changed my mind and fish them out and chucked them behind the loo. really must control my temper

joesy · 06/04/2005 09:51

Dh wore one when we got married but everytime we have an argument he takes it off and throws it down. I am the one who has to ask him to put it on when we make up.

Mothernature · 06/04/2005 09:52

Mine does not - he has seen too many ring injuries to even try one on. He loves me and that's all that matters, no label needed as far as I am concerned.

iota · 06/04/2005 09:52

my dh does, my brother doesen't for practical reasons.

If you do a job that can involve manual work and heavy machinery, it's actually dangerous. If you hook the ring in machinery whilst working you could rip the tendons out up to your elbow - my db has seeen a trainig film where this happened.

aloha · 06/04/2005 09:53

I'm so fat post dd that ripping it off my finger and flinging it on the floor would require about twenty minutes twisting and the liberal application of hand cream....which I think might take away from the general effect...

iota · 06/04/2005 09:53

crossed post with MN

marthamoo · 06/04/2005 09:53

Yes. It's a white gold sort of plaited band. He wanted one. I wouldn't be bothered if he hadn't wanted one though - I think if he was going to be unfaithful a lump of metal wouldn't stop him.

Actually..I can think of certain lumps of metal which would stop him...the iron, a crowbar...

suzywong · 06/04/2005 09:54

mine doesn't
had it altered and everything but apparently he has a bump on the boney base of his ring finger...... wish he would I find wedding rings very attaractive

Earlybird · 06/04/2005 09:55

Neither my dad or grandad wore a wedding ring, as they worked with their hands alot.

But.....as a single woman, I always check a man's hands to judge whether he's "available" or not. A man with a wedding ring is unavailable, a man without one appears available.

Bozza · 06/04/2005 09:59

My Dad always takes his off and puts it on the mantlepiece before he goes to work or does manual work at home. He will have been doing this for 35 years this July. Don't think DH ever really needs to take his off. And I have to admit I do find it attractive on him.

LOL Aloha. Mine spent several weeks on a chain around my neck during late pregnancy and after each baby was born.

northerner · 06/04/2005 09:59

Yes my dh wears a wedding ring, I'd be a bit miffed if he didn't want to wear one.

serenity · 06/04/2005 10:01

My DH doesn't wear jewellery, apart fron one earring (not even a watch), so I didn't even think of getting him a ring when we got married. So I was very surprised when he said he wanted one, and when he bought expensive gold ones, rather than the plain silver band I was going to get.

My Dad always wore one, and he was still an unfaithful git - so I wouldn't see it as preventing anything

Twiglett · 06/04/2005 10:01

No, he refused point blank. Said he didn't wear jewellery. We had a big discussion about how a wedding ring isn't jewellery but he won.

In the end I wanted to wear a wedding and engagement ring, he didn't. But we both wanted to get married and be married

wearing a ring or not has nothing to do with fidelity
