I don't get to meet the dad's at ds's school, there is a couple of single ones though but single because their wives have died. ds doesn't do the scouts, no single ones on my course (unless I want to date an 18 year old and my life isn't that bad).

Depending on how you feel about it, with a young son etc., getting a lodger might be the way to go - worked for me! But it is a bigger risk when there is a child involved.

Or, what about a handyman type person? IF those chick-lit books are to be believed, there is bound to be some fabulous single plumber/chippy/gardener/decorator bloke out there who just hasn't found the right girl yet - find some jobs (not expensive) that need doing and start getting them in for quotes!

I don't mind someone with a child but I've never met a single dad. I'm going to take ds to a climbing wall next week to size the place up. We don't have space for a lodger. I do need some jobs doing (on the house). Do they charge you for quotes though? Cash is sparce at the moment.

oh scrooged - not necessarily! If he were a, for e.g. landscape gardener, he might even have a degree in horticulture, which would defo not make him brainless, but would give him a bod like that!

You know, I tried this "asking the universe for what you want" thing once - it was amazing! I got a lodger (who is now DH - who knew?!), 3 clients who had disappeared for a long while came back and I got a tax rebate! so I asked for an Audi TT and I got one of those competition cards through the door for an Audi TT!! But at that point my belief collapsed (too cynical by far, plus I thought my luck must have run out by then!) so I didn't win it.
